BTS have landed more than one win with their Coldplay collaboration, which has debuted at number one on the Billboard chart.

My Universe, the K-pop group’s new banger with the British rock icons, soared straight in to top the Hot 100 chart after clocking up 11.5million streams in the US and 5.5million radio airplay audience impressions, as well as 127,000 downloads and physical singles combined.

It’s now BTS’ sixth number one on the Billboard chart, following hot on the heels of tracks such as Dynamite, Savage Love featuring Jason Derulo, Butter, Life Goes On and Permission To Dance. Doesn’t it feel just like yesterday when they earned their first chart-topper?

If yes, that’s probably because all those number ones were achieved in a year and one month, making them the second fastest to do so after The Beatles’ record of one year and two weeks in 1964-1966.

BTS have now broken a new record after becoming the group with the most songs to debut at number one on the Hot 100 – they tie with solo artists Ariana Grande and Drake overall.

Their Coldplay collaboration is also the first Hot 100 chart-topper with two groups as the leading artists. With My Universe, BTS have topped Billboard’ rock chart for the first time.

The My Universe music video is quite a futuristic treat and sees three groups – Bangtan, Coldplay and another group made up of alien creatures – defy the law to perform together with a little help from DJ Lafrique who, on board her alien ship, uses a device called Holoband to unite them virtually.

However there is danger on the horizon as the musicians are hunted by ‘the silencers’ who will do anything in their power to make sure there is no music.

Chris Martin and the group open the video with a performance before being connected with BTS, who sing, celebrate and dance in what looks like the ruins of a ship. They are all later transported to rock out with the third group, looking free and happy as they express themselves with their music.

BTS made headlines for other reasons over the weekend, with Jungkook debuting a new lip piercing that left fans swooning while trying to work out if it’s real or not.
