After struggling with injuries during his first few months at Arsenal, Kieran Tierney has become an integral part of their squad.
Tierney won the FA Cup in his debut season in England and has already made himself a fan favourite with the Arsenal supporters.
We’ve taken a closer look at Arsenal’s record with and without the defender in the starting XI in all competitions since the start of 2019-20.
With Tierney starting
Played: 24
Won: 14
Drawn: 6
Lost: 4
Goals for: 50
Goals against: 27
Points per game: 2.0
Win rate: 58.3%
Loss rate: 16.7%
Goals per game: 2.08
Goals against per game: 1.12

Without Tierney starting
Played: 35
Won: 15
Drawn: 12
Lost: 8
Goals for: 52
Goals against: 40
Points per game: 1.62
Win rate: 42.9%
Loss rate: 22.9%
Goals per game: 1.48
Goals against per game: 1.14
These stats don’t take into account the quality of the opposition, the standard of Arsenal’s line-up or a selection of other factors, but the Gunners’ win rate is significantly better when Tierney starts compared to when he isn’t in the starting line-up.
Arsenal average more points per game and more goals per game when the Scotland international plays from the start.
While it’s only a slight improvement, Mikel Arteta’s side also concede fewer goals per game when Tierney is named in the starting line up.
