Coronation Street actor Max Evans, who is currently Manchester’s most hated man for his portrayal of evil killer thug Corey Brent, has revealed the role was nearly reversed – as he got to the final stage of casting for Seb Franklin, the character his alter ego ended up killing.

Harry Visinoni ended up landing the role of Seb which he played for four years up until his recent dramatic exit but both actors have found the full circle element amusing.

Max smiled to Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s very full circle – I auditioned for Corrie a couple of times – I actually got very close to playing Seb! Harry and I found that quite funny.

‘I auditioned for Corey two years ago – it was hard to approach as he was younger and I’m six foot one so I thought I’d look silly in a school uniform. It’s been nice to use what I haven’t experienced myself to explore the role.

‘I stared out on Creeped out on CBBC which was great – I did that alongside GCSEs. I also had a small role in The Bay. I also love the Edinburgh Fringe – it’s something every young performer should do.’

And Max is loving his time in Corrie, revealing the team of teens are a solid group and also revealing who has taken him under his wing.

He enthused: ‘There is a core and I’ve not met one person in work who hasn’t been nice. Behind the great actors are even better people. It’s surreal because I love the show – having lunch with Dev blows my mind a bit! They’re all brilliant.

‘Ultimately because of our interest with films, I learn a lot from Jimmi because of the character he is, he’s a brilliant guy and we have a common interest of Marlon Brando. He gives me DVDs to watch which helps me craft my performance.’

And the actor is proud of the whole team’s performance for the pinnacle episode.

He added: ‘It was hard, I struggle to watch myself on screen but the effort everyone put into it – it shows and it was a masterful episode. It was such an honour to be a part of it.’
