Creating Inner Wellness

I hope you have joined me with a cup of your favorite beverage, and are ready to deeply reflect and contemplate the power of these quotations. I open with these questions because it has become very evident through my recent studying of Inner Wellness, that our bodies have an innate ability to heal.

What does this mean for you and I? Well, sit back and let's explore this together over the next few moments.

Firstly, let's define a couple of key words. When I refer to "Inner", or "Innate", I define this as intuitive, natural, God-given. The online Webster dictionary defines Innate as "belonging to the essential nature of something" and "that (which is) part of one's inner essential nature". A wonderful definition of Wellness I recently found reads as follows: "Wellness ….. is a lens through which to see the world, it is a philosophical view which (allows) the body-mind-spirit (to be) inherently intelligent , self-healing and self regulating. " (Dr. J. Chestnut, DC "The Innate Diet and Natural Hygiene").

If Inner Wellness is a valuable element for which we strive, how do we bring it consistently into our lives?

Consider the statement "The past does not have to equal the future." If you are faced with a situation in your life that has rejected in poor health, and are challenged by its drain on your energy, what would it be worth to you to know for sure that where you choose to put your focus, this is exactly where you will see results? To know sure that you could change the outcome of this situation with some effort and responsibility for the choices you've made? What do you believe about placing your attention on something, to change your results?

The best illustration of this concept is to take a look at the process of goal setting and setting intentions. Most of us have heard of SMART goal setting: that is, goals should be:

o Specific

o Measurable

o Attainable

o Realistic in timeframe

o Team Supported

Staying committed to a goal takes determination and a willingness to adjust your sails if you need to find a better way. Recognize that creating and maintaining Inner Wellness is about creating a place of inner peace, and doing it with concentration and top of mind awareness. Expect things to ebb and flow in life, however, when you CHOOSE to place your focus on having great health, that is most definitely where you will see results.

In his book "There is a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem", one of my favorite authors, Dr. Wayne Dyer writes: "All healing is a return to wholeness. Your thoughts have a lot to do with this healing process. Your thoughts and low energy patterns can activate an ulcer (or create healing). inhabits your body will become whatever you project it to be. It will create a healthy or a sickly body, depending on how you decide to use your mind … Make your mind proud, loving, healthy and positive and your body will respond accordingly . "

Great advice! So, how do we put these concepts into action?

First: Instead of spending endless waste energy on asking the question WHY? Why me? Why now? Why is this happening? focus your attention on asking these more empowering questions:

– What do I want? (Priorities)

– What do I need to have / be / do?

– What have I already tried?

– What's holding me back?

– Who can support me?

When you choose to focus on creating SOLUTIONS rather than focusing on the problem itself, a couple of things tend to happen:

1. The size of the problem often diminishes because there is a better perspective and "bigger picture" attitude towards how this situation fits within the framework of your life.

2. The solutions which you had not previously considered start to come forward, gain momentum and there is a strong sense of POSSIBILITY.

When options and possibilities become your habitual response, it is in this inner space within your heart and mind, where the excitation of available options allows you to create and build Inner Wellness.

Second: Do a little "Self Check-In" – how often have you paused to pat yourself on the back, and remind yourself of all the wonderful things you have done, become and achieved in your life? How do you have served your neighborhood or community? Positive encouragement and reflection on all that you have contributed to someone else's life is a great encouragement to bring yourself "up" into a place of wonderful Inner Wellness.

Third: Recognize that Life is but a "blip", and no matter how much time we are each blessed with in this lifetime, there will always be a desire to have had more time … So honour your life's priorities …. .Anything which is deep, rich and meaningfulful needs your utmost focus and effort

Finally: Answer these questions:

– How can you use your current situation to squeeze more "juice" out of life?

– What life experiences have you gone through which have really impacted you?

– What is your "life's legacy" ~ what is it that you want to be remembered for?

May you continue to walk a blessed life of Inner Wellness, Wisdom and Peace.
