Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren trolled Everton fans as Jurgen Klopp’s title contenders secured an impressive victory in the Merseyside derby.

Reds captain Jordan Henderson rifled home Liverpool’s opener after just nine minutes at Goodison Park with a left-footed strike from the edge of the box.

Mohamed Salah then continued his brilliant run of form by scoring Liverpool’s second and putting his side 2-0 up inside 20 minutes.

Demarai Gray briefly gave Everton hope of a derby comeback when he reduced the deficit before half-time, but Salah scored his second and Liverpool’s third after the interval.

Diogo Jota rounded off a superb evening for Liverpool when he added a fourth for Klopp’s side in the 78th minute.

Liverpool’s 4-1 win over their arch-rivals sees them stay within touching distance of Premier League leaders Chelsea and second-placed Manchester City, while Everton remain 14th, five points above from the relegation zone.

Lovren, who won the Premier League and Champions League at Anfield, clearly enjoyed Liverpool’s victory and joked that Salah had ‘sent the Everton fans home’ after his first goal.

‘Mo is sending some fans home after 20min only,’ he wrote on Twitter.

After his brace helped Liverpool secure an emphatic victory over Everton, Salah said: ‘The message from the manager was that they will play physically strong and go 100% for every ball we just had to play our game and try to create chances, which we did.

‘Hopefully I score many more goals. My first target is to win something at the club, league, Champions League hopefully both.’
