Jeffrey Donovan, Kristin Chenoweth and Lil Rel Howery have joined the cast of the sports drama “National Champions” at ErosSTX.
The story revolves around a star quarterback (Stephan James) that ignites a player’s strike just three days prior to the biggest game of the college football year in order to fight for fair compensation and respect.
Chenoweth will play Bailey Lazor – wife of J.K. Simmons’ Coach Lazor. Donovan plays an executive named Mike Titus, while Howery is set to play the team’s defensive coordinator named Coach Dunn.
Uzo Aduba, Alexander Ludwig, Andrew Bachelor, David Koechner, Tim Blake Nelson and Timothy Olyphant co-star.
Ric Roman Waugh directs the film penned by Adam Mervis while Basil Iwanyk, Brendon Boyea and Greg Economou produce. Filming begins in New Orleans this month.
