Thierry Henry has praised Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe after they netted in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
The two academy products shone on Sunday as the Gunners got the better of their arch-rivals.
Arsenal led 3-0 at the break thanks to goals from Saka, Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It could all go to sh*t but Arsenal fans are starting to ‘trust the process’
Spurs were slightly better after the break and they got a goal back late on from Heung-Min Son. Arsenal still ran out convincing winners though as they picked up their fourth victory on the bounce.
Saka and Smith Rowe have starred for Arsenal for over a year and they were key again in the derby. Speaking during Monday Night Football (as cited by the Daily Star), Henry picked the duo as his standout players against Spurs.
“I think the team played really well especially in the first half,” Henry said.
“But then for me those two having a goal and an assist, Arsenal played that game as a derby as they should, I don’t think Tottenham did especially in the second half.
“What a day, you want to see that more often than not but for me, the two kids especially for the academy and what it does represent, it is contagious, we need that at Arsenal.
“We need this type of performance and that’s why we care when the guys that add that DNA in them because they know what it is to win and not suffer against Tottenham.”
Also during the broadcast, Henry insisted that Daniel Ek is “here to stay” when it comes to his attempts to become the new owner of Arsenal:
“To be able to get there, you need to have someone to respond on either side, it didn’t happen yet. We, he, is here to stay. Let’s see what’s going to happen.
“For the moment, we enjoyed obviously the win yesterday.
“I think it’s going to be long. I think you remember me saying it’s going to be long. How long it’s going to be, I don’t actually know but we are here to stay.”
