Kyren Wilson leads Anthony McGill 13-11 as they head into the final session of their World Snooker Championship semi-final on Friday afternoon.

The pair have been evenly matched throughout the contest so far and although Wilson has a slender lead, there is still a long way to go in the race to 17 for a place in the final.

There was plenty of quality in the third session of the game on Thursday evening, with McGill finally making his first century of the tournament, a wonderful 136.

Wilson also in fine break-building form, rolling in 116, 105 and narrowly missing out on another ton, finishing on 99.

The Englishman is in the box seat, thanks to winning four frames on the spin, but McGill stopping the rot with the century in the last of the day has kept his hopes alive.

The two men had proved impossible to separate over the first two sessions, although they had each gone very differently.

McGill, the significant underdog at the start of the match, raced into an early lead and had a 6-2 lead on Wednesday afternoon.

Wilson bounced back on Thursday morning, though, winning the second session by the same scoreline to leave the contest level at 8-8.

McGill took the opening frame of the third session, with Wilson hitting straight back, finishing his break agonisingly on 99.

The next two frames were tight and were shared, but then Wilson began gaining some momentum.

The Englishman made 116 in the 21st, pinched the next and then made 105, claiming four frames on the spin to go 13-10 ahead.

The final frame of the session seemed huge, with either Wilson holding a huge lead or McGill cutting it to just two.

The Scot was nerveless, knocking in a superb long red and then finally making his first century of the tournament in amazingly fluent and stylish fashion, rolling in 136 the highest of the match, to leave the match poised at 13-11 in Wilson’s favour.

The race to 17 is very much alive, with the final session starting at 2.30pm on Friday.
