Lucifer has returned to our screens, with the second part of season five paying a special tribute to people connected with the show.

The supernatural series is back with eight new episodes picking up after the first part of season five landed back in August.

The show follows Tom Ellis’s titular character, otherwise known as the Devil, as he decides to move out of Hell and settle in Los Angeles. There, he runs a nightclub and helps out the LAPD solve crimes using his supernatural abilities.

The most recent episodes pay tribute to three people. Craig Charles Henderson (1947 – 2019), Arthur Melbourne Hooper (1920 – 2020) and Merritt Yohnka (1958 – 2020) are all recognised across the course of the episodes.

The first tributes are seen at the end of the ninth episode of season five, with Hooper and Henderson recognised.

Hooper is the late grandfather of actor Tom, and the show pays its respects after his death last year.

The connection to Henderson is less clear. However, co-showrunner Joe Henderson follows an account with that name, which was very vocal in its support for the campaign to save Lucifer following its cancellation at Fox after three seasons. The show then moved to Netflix.

The final episode of season five is also dedicated to Yohnka, who was the stunt coordinator on the third and fourth seasons of the show. The 62-year-old died in 2020 following a battle with cancer.

Lucifer fans were treated to new episodes this week, with eight instalments arriving on the streaming platform.

The fifth series is available to watch now, with the sixth and final season also on the way.

Lucifer seasons 1-3 is available on Amazon Prime Video, seasons 4 onward is available on Netflix.
