Steve McManaman has claimed that Manchester United star Paul Pogba “wouldn’t improve” Liverpool, Manchester City or Chelsea.

The midfielder is out of contract this summer and he is expected to leave Man Utd.

It was reported last week that the Frenchman would be open to joining one of United’s Premier League rivals.

McFred is now ‘integral’ at Man Utd, Arsenal, Bale, West Ham and…

Pogba has been criticised over the past few seasons as he has struggled to live up to the £89m fee United paid to sign him from Juventus.

The 28-year-old was sent off earlier this season as Liverpool hammered Man Utd 5-0 at Old Trafford.

McManaman has suggested that Pogba’s form shows that he is not good enough to “go and play for Man City or Liverpool”:

“If Paul Pogba was to make a move to one of Manchester United’s Premier League rivals, I wouldn’t be shocked…. I would be incredibly shocked,” McManaman told Horseracing.net.

“If it was Manchester City, Chelsea, or Liverpool I would be amazed, far more than shocked. Why would you?

“Is Paul Pogba going to improve Manchester City’s team? No. He wouldn’t improve Liverpool’s either. Probably not Chelsea’s, the way they play.

“Paul Pogba’s form for Manchester United over the past five years hasn’t been good enough to reflect that he can go and play for Manchester City or Liverpool.

“His reputation is excellent, of course it is. But his reputation is in the France shirt and Juventus shirt. It’s not in the Manchester United shirt. His style of play is too slow for Man City or Liverpool.”

Paul Scholes disagrees with McManaman. He believes Pogba is the only current Man Utd player who could play for Liverpool and Man City:

“Pogba in his best form would. He is indicative of what the club are doing. Every player is inconsistent. People running the club are inconsistent in what they are doing.

“I have been a big critic of Paul, but if you are an opposing player going to Old Trafford and you are playing against Fred and McTominay ‘all day long’.

“Now, you don’t know what you are going to get with Paul. But when he is on his game, he is brilliant.

“But when he isn’t, then against your Liverpool and Man City’s, you might struggle in them areas. Where do Man United go next year to replace him?”
