CD Projekt Red has confirmed that development has begun on the next full game in “The Witcher” franchise.
This will mark the fourth entry in the series following 2015’s multiple Game of the Year award winner “The Witcher III: Wild Hunt”. In a statement they say: “We’re happy to announce that the next instalment in The Witcher series of video games is currently in development, kicking off a new saga for the franchise.”
The next entry will also see the series move over from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5 and also mark the start of a new “multi-year strategic partnership” with Epic Games. In a follow-up tweet they also made it clear there are no plans to make the title an Epic Games Store exclusive.
No further details regarding the game’s development or release time frames are available. REDengine, which runs the developer’s “Cyberpunk 2077” title, will continued to be used for that game’s upcoming expansion.
