Paramount Plans Pret A Porter Series
Miramax

The Paramount+ streaming service is reportedly developing a series based on Robert Altman’s 1994 fashion industry satire feature “Pret-a-Porter” (“Ready to Wear”).

Miramax Television are backing the project. The original chronicles the interconnected lives of a group of people in the lead-up to the 1994 Paris Fashion Week, where models, designers, reporters and fashion editors gather to present next year’s trends.

Ava Pickett penned the new take which will shift the focus to young people on the first rung of the success ladder. It’s described as an “aspirational series about ambition thwarted, youth culture and identity in crisis, and fighting for what you want”.

The plan is to include a diverse multicultural cast of major international talent. The original included the likes of Julia Roberts, Tim Robbins, Kim Basinger, Forest Whitaker, Richard E. Grant, Danny Aiello, Linda Hunt, Tracey Ullman, Rupert Everett, Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni.

It joins numerous other Miramax films being turned into new series including “The English Patient,” “Mimic,” “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” and the more recent “The Gentlemen”.
