Serie A club turn to Tottenham defender in search for new blood


Sky Italia believes that the Serie A side plan to bring in two defenders this summer – Atalanta’s Gianluca Mancini, plus either Alderweireld or Marc Bartra of Real Betis. Spurs haven’t received a formal bid for the player yet and Roma have until July 26 to activate the Belgium international’s £25 million release clause. As things stand, Alderweireld is still expected to join his Tottenham team-mates for their pre-season tour of Asia. The 30-year-old made 50 appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, helping them to the Champions League final.
