Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home during a special fan event. The clip comes on the heels of a new poster for the upcoming December 17 movie, which was released on Monday.

This new clip features all the villains we’ve seen hinted at so far, with Doctor Octopus figuring heavily into the trailer. It’s also a good excuse to revisit the previous trailer released in August, which was packed with a lot hinting and teasing at the movie’s ambitions.

In addition getting eyes on all these returning villains, we now have some idea of what Peter’s fight is; these villains aren’t supposed to be in this Spidey’s universe, and are, according to Doctor Strange, destined to die. If you know Peter Parker, you know he is absolutely not down for that. Doc Ock also makes it clear that the MCU’s Peter Parker does not look like his Peter Parker. Even so, we see neither web nor emblem of either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield in this trailer. If they are in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the reveal doesn’t happen here. Tom Hardy’s Venom, who popped up in Spidey’s world at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is also nowhere to be seen. Check out the clip for yourself below, and enjoy taking it all in.

In a recent interview, star Tom Holland confirmed what the movie’s title always hinted at–that No Way Home will strike a different tone than the franchise has historically. In an interview with Total Film, Holland said, “What people will be really surprised about is that it’s not fun, this film… it’s dark and sad, and it’s going to be really affecting.” Ominously, Holland added that, “Peter Parker is someone who’s always looking up… in this film, he feels like he’s met his match.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres in theaters on December 17, 2021. The film promises to pit Spidey against a ton of villains, including villains featured in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, and The Amazing Spider-Man. Holland confirmed in the same interview that Jamie Foxx’s Electro, featured in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will appear in the film as well. In addition to Spidey, Holland’s Uncharted film is on the way. Meanwhile, Disney recently delayed the entire 2022 slate of MCU films.
