Stephen King’s “Later” Becomes Series

Blumhouse Television has scored the rights to adapt Stephen King’s 2021 novel “Later” into a limited series starring Lucy Liu.

The story follows a literary agency owner and single parent whose star author client dies before turning out his great work. Her son has the supernatural ability to talk to the dead, all of whom tell him the truth, which the mother uses to finish and publish the book.

Soon though, the mother’s police detective girlfriend figures out what the boy can do and he gets over his head in the spirit world. Series creator Raelle Tucker (“True Blood”) wrote the pilot script while Jason Blum, Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold are executive producers.
