A teaser trailer has just been released for Daedalic Entertainment’s “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum,” a stealth-based action game that is set in that Tolkien universe.
Playing as the famed pitiful creature Smeagol/Gollum, you’ll explore a new story that begins in parallel with Frodo’s but the other side of Middle-earth. Gollum will be able to stealthily take out enemies, but this is mostly a non-combat game – Gollum’s strengths lie in cunning not combat.
Like with the “Infamous” game series, there’s a paragon/renegade style dynamic where the decisions you make not only influence the branching storyline and visual changes, but also impact your personality with either the more friendly Gollum or the more sinister Smeagol’s personality being the dominant one.
Whichever one you are, it will influence animations, soundscapes, certain gameplay situations, and in-game dialogue.
“The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” is set to launch sometime in 2021 exclusively for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.
