Bowling looks easy at first glance, but there are a few important tips for bowling that the beginner must learn before bowling is really easy. After reading the beginner bowling tips presented here, you will be well on your way to being a competitive bowler. More importantly, you will have a true appreciation of the game that will help you and those around you enjoy bowling more.

1. Posture is Important

It is not difficult to have good bowling posture. You simply keep your shoulders and head looking straight ahead at the pin you want to hit with the ball from start to finish.

2. The Proper Bowling Ball Thumb Grip

Your thumb should fit loosely into the ball in case it swells slowly during bowling. Nothing is more embarrassing than having your fingers get stuck in a bowling ball. If you buy your own ball and have the fingers drilled, you will definitely want to keep this in mind. If your thumb just swells too much during bowling, you might want to consider putting some bowlers’ tape on it. You should also carry a sweat towel if your fingers are ready to sweating.

3. Keep Your Eye on the Pin

Unlike other games with a ball, you should not keep your eye on the ball. If you are right-handed, make sure you are aiming to the right part of the first pin. If you are left-handed, your focus should be kept just to the left of the first pin.

4. Starting Point

For beginners, the only proper place to start your bowling adventure is two to the left for lefties and two to the right for righties. That is to say, look at the little arrows in the middle of the lane and line yourself up accordingly.

5. Relax

There is no need to play as if you’re on a timer. This is a slow, relaxed game. Play accordingly. Do not try to launch the ball like the old pros. Instead concentrate on the smooth delivery of the old pros.

6. Keep Yourself Squared to the Target

Always keep your shoulders and eyes squared towards the pin to which you are aiming. This is why bowlers tend to swing their back legs. It helps them keep their balance without spinning away.

7. The Perfect Release

You want to pull your arm back behind your body with a very slight bend in the elbow as you cradle the ball with your hand. As you swing forward your arm should form a smooth, straight arc.

8. Maintain Through Your Release

Just to re-emphasize, keep yourself squared to the target.

Try to implement the above bowling tips. You should be able to see some improvements in your bowling.
