AMC+ has picked up ITV’s big-budget mini-series adaptation of Len Deighton’s “The Ipcress File” at ITV Studios. Joe Cole (“Gangs Of London”) takes on the role made famous by Michael Caine in the 1960s films. Lucy Boynton and Tom Hollander co-star in the six-part Cold War-era series penned by “Trainspotting” writer John Hodge. [Source: Deadline]
Untitled HBO COVID Series
Adam McKay and his “The Big Short” co-writer Charles Randolph are teaming up to pen a limited series in development at HBO about the race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine.
Both executive produce the series following the companies and individuals putting everything on the line to save lives, the surprising science that it is based on, and the challenges playing out around politics, access, and safety. [Source: THR]
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Five more have joined Netflix’s live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” series remake which is currently shooting in Vancouver.
Elizabeth Yu plays fire-bending prodigy and Zuko’s sister Azula, Maria Zhang will play Kyoshi Warriors leader Suki with Tamlyn Tomita joining as her mother, Yvonne Chapman is legendary warrior Avatar Kyoshi, and Casey Camp-Horinek is Southern Water Tribe matriarch Gran Gran. [Source: TV Insider]
Peacock’s “Bel-Air,” the anticipated contemporary reimagining of the 1990s Will Smith sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has been set to debut on Super Bowl Sunday, February 13th with new episodes released weekly.
