Where Is Xur Today? (Jan. 21-25)
We’re slowly learning more and more about the upcoming Witch Queen expansion for Destiny 2, and each new info drop means we’re a little closer to the end of the Season of the Lost. That means there are fewer and fewer opportunities to capitalize on Xur’s inventory of Exotics and Legendaries before the new expansion kicks off. Here’s where you can find Xur this weekend and what Exotics he’s selling.
Head to Nessus, to the Watcher’s Grave area, to find Xur this week. For his weapon, Xur is offering the Telesto fusion rifle. Hunters can pick up the ST0MP-EE5 leg armor; for Titans, there’s the Wormgod Caress gauntlets; and for Warlocks, Xur has the Phoenix Protocol chest armor.
Now Playing: Where is Xur and What is He Selling – January 21, 2022
Once again, Xur has some excellent Exotic armors that everyone should grab. Both the ST0MP-EE5 and Phoenix Protocol he’s offering offer better-than-average stat rolls for Xur’s inventory, at 66 and 67, respectively, and both Exotics are go-tos for their classes. Wormgod Caress is less of a blowout stat-wise, but any Titans who don’t have this Exotic should pick it up–it is often part of builds that allow Titans to rip through high-level content by themselves, so much so that it has been disabled by Bungie on more than one occasion.
For Legendary weapons, Xur’s inventory has no major standouts, but there are a couple of guns that might be worth your attention. The Wishbringer shotgun is a reliable full-auto for PvP thanks to its Range Masterwork and Snapshot Sights, and Pulse Monitor perks. Also solid is the Stars in Shadow pulse rifle, which saw quite a bit of use in the Crucible earlier this season. It offers Headseeker and Outlaw for better precision kills and fast reloads, plus a Range Masterwork to hit enemies from further away in both PvE and PvP.
Xur’s Legendary armor is worth a look if you missed it back in the Season of Opulence. The Opulent armor sets haven’t been in the game since Destiny 2’s second year, so if you’re missing it in your collections, this is a great time to snag it. Hunters have little to be excited about, stat-wise, however. Warlocks fare a little better, with a few 62-63 items that can fill out your loadout if you need them. For Titans, it’s all pretty middling, so it’s best to only grab these armor pieces if you need to add them to your collection for transmogrification.
To get to Xur this week, spawn in at the Watcher’s Grave transmat zone on Nessus. Hop on your sparrow and head north toward the big pink tree at the far end of the area. When you reach the tree, climb up into its branches to find Xur standing on the big one overlooking the area.
Xur is present every weekend in Destiny 2, starting with the daily reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET each Friday. His exact location is always a mystery when he first arrives, as he is not listed on the map, and for novice players, he can be easy to miss. However, there are a set number of locations where he takes up residence, including the Tower Hangar area, on Nessus in Watcher’s Grave, and in the Winding Cove area of the EDZ.
Xur Exotic Items
Telesto is Xur’s Exotic weapon this week, the perennially broken fusion rifle that’s always a lot of fun to use. Its fusion bolts stick to surfaces and enemies and explode, allowing you to set traps or fire into a crowd and potentially take out multiple victims in one blast. If you’re not a fan of his other options, Xur also sells an Exotic engram that will decrypt into an Exotic you don’t already own. Just note that you can only buy one per week, and the engram is specific to the character class who buys it–so if you’re trying to get a new Titan helmet, don’t buy the engram with your Warlock. He also has the new Xenology Quest, which rewards an Exotic Cipher you can use to purchase Exotics from either Xur or the Tower’s Monument to Lost Lights. The quest requires you to either complete Strikes or win matches in Gambit and the Crucible.
- Exotic Engram – 97 legendary shards
- Telesto – 29 legendary shards
- ST0MP-EE5 – 23 legendary shards
- Wormgod Caress – 23 legendary shards
- Phoenix Protocol – 23 legendary shards
- Xenology quest – free
- Legendary weapons and armor – 50 legendary shards, 1,000 Glimmer
Alongside changes in his location, Xur’s inventory also rotates weekly. That means it’s worth visiting him each time to check out his new weapons and rolls on Exotic and Legendary armor. You can visit him any time between his arrival Friday and the weekly reset at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET the following Tuesday when Xur departs the solar system.
Telesto (Fusion Rifle)
Telesto is an old Exotic, but always a useful one. The gun fires fusion projectiles like any other fusion rifle, but with Telesto, they stick to things–including surfaces, teammates, and enemies. The projectiles explode after a delay, often ripping through multiple opponents at a time or catching people off-guard as they run past them in a doorway or around a corner, which makes Telesto a Crucible favorite. It’s a fun time in any event, though, thanks to the fact that multikills with Telesto reload both your Energy and Kinetic weapons automatically. Add this to your collection if you don’t already have one.
As Hunter Exotics go, ST0MP-EE5 are excellent, and this is a pretty decent roll for a set. The boots increase your sprint speed, slide distance, and jump height, making ST0MP-EE5 great for high-level PvE challenges with platforming, and phenomenal in the Crucible for flying through the air and making yourself tougher to kill. The enhanced jump is always useful no matter what you’re doing. The distribution on this set’s stats could be better, but as far as overall numbers go, you shouldn’t pass this Exotic up if you need a good version.

Wormgod Caress (Titan)
With the right build, Wormgod Caress is absolutely devastating in PvE activities–if you ever see videos in which a Titan single-handedly busts a raid boss, Wormgod is probably in play. The Exotic raises the damage your melee attacks do every time you get a melee kill. Pair that with Titan Sunbreaker perks and you can seriously boost your melee damage, allowing you to punch (or hammer) your way through just about anything you’ll face.

Phoenix Protocol (Warlock)
If you’re going into a tough PvE activity and intend to use Well of Radiance to keep your team alive, Phoenix Protocol is a natural pairing. The Exotic earns you Super energy back whenever you make kills and assists from within your Well, allowing you to get Supers back more quickly, and keep your team alive for longer. And as stat rolls go, this is a great one at 67, with a pretty even distribution through most areas. You should absolutely grab this Phoenix Protocol right now–then take it into raids and Grandmaster Nightfalls and put it to work.
