WWE has revealed the new NXT logo as the show is set for a major overhaul.

The programme has been known to fans for years as the black and gold brand, but that’s all about to change with the weekly show getting a fresh logo and new theme song by Wale.

The redesign was unveiled during SmackDown on Friday night, with the company teasing that the new era is ‘coming soon’.

Gone is the old colour scheme, and in its place is a very colourful logo hinting that things really are about to change in a big way.

It’s certainly a sign of the brand moving on from its roots, but fans were generally positive about the style, and NXT wrestlers themselves voiced their approval.

MSK’s Nash Carter tweeted: ‘I love this so much.’

And then seeing the merchandise opportunities, he later added: ‘Ight can we get an MSK tshirt with these exact same colors because this is AMAZING. (sic)’

It’s all-change for NXT now, after WWE president Nick Khan confirmed the company were moving in a new direction to revamp its third brand, which is seen as a developmental league for Raw and SmackDown.

The executive opened up on the near future in a recent interview with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, and he suggested the show’s boss Triple H has been involved in the decision.

‘We’re doing a complete revamp on NXT, led by Triple H, Paul Levesque, who’s really one of the architects of the original NXT,’ he said. ‘In terms of an NXT rebrand, look for it in the upcoming weeks, it’s going to have a whole new look, it’s going to have a whole new feel.’

There’s also been a slight change to the recruitment, with the company now looking at athletes they can train from scratch to find the next big star, rather than the focus on independent wrestlers they’ve had in recent years.

Nick added: ‘We believe because of a lot of the “indie wrestlers”, if you will, have come through our system, and are in our system with SmackDown and RAW now, we don’t want to keep doing that same thing. We want to look elsewhere for great young talent.’

*WWE NXT airs Tuesday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
