Amber Midthunder Leads New “Predator”

“Legion” and “Roswell, New Mexico” actress Amber Midthunder has taken the lead role in “Skulls,” filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg’s new film in the “Predator” franchise at 20th Century Studios.

The Native American actress, who recently starred alongside Liam Neeson in both “The Ice Road” and briefly in “The Marksman,” will star in the film about a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior.

How the “Predator” series ties into the story is unclear but should this be what it sounds like – a period, mostly dialogue-free, one-on-one wilderness survival thriller – it’s a welcome back-to-basics approach that’s left-field enough to feel fresh.

Filming kicks off shortly in Calgary, Alberta from a script by Patrick Aison. John Davis is producing.
