Antonio Banderas Joins “Indiana Jones 5”

Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas has joined the cast of the currently in production fifth installment in the “Indiana Jones” franchise. Specifics of his role are under wraps.

Banderas was most recently seen in “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and is in the upcoming “Uncharted” movie at Sony Pictures. He joins a cast here that includes Harrison Ford returning as the famed archaeologist alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Kretschmann and Shaunette Renee Wilson.

James Mangold directs while Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel produce. Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and Mangold co-wrote the script

Filming is currently taking place in Glasgow as 78-year-old Ford is recovering from a shoulder injury. New photos have surfaced this week though of “Fleabag” star Waller-Bridge in full costume as she shoots scenes for the 1960s-set film.

The new “Indiana Jones” film is set to arrive on July 29th 2022.
