ArcLight Cinemas To Close Permanently

The ArcLight Cinemas and Pacific Theatres are closing all of their locations for good following their business being decimated by the pandemic.

The famed Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, built in 1963, is the crown of the theater complex built by ArcLight near the corner of Sunset and Vine. The Grove in West Hollywood and the ArcLight at Sherman Oaks host among the more than 300 screens across California which now being shut down for good.

Pacific Theatres, which is owned by the Decurion Corporation, issued a statement saying: “This was not the outcome anyone wanted, but despite a huge effort that exhausted all potential options, the company does not have a viable way forward.”

The National Association of Theatre Owners has long warned that smaller and regional independent chains, such as Pacific and ArcLight, might never recover from the COVID-19 crisis.
