Arsenal have failed in their attempt to overturn David Luiz’s red card against Wolves.
The Brazilian defender was sent off by referee Craig Pawson for clipping Willian Jose in the box.
The decision was a controversial one, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta claiming that he ‘could not see any contact’.

Arsenal appealed the decision soon after the match, but the FA has upheld the red card.
In a statement on their website, Arsenal said: “We have worked really hard to overturn David Luiz’s red card.
“We presented our case to the FA but are disappointed that our appeal has been unsuccessful. We accept the FA’s decision and continue our preparations for Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.”
Luiz will miss the away match against Villa in the Premier League.
On the same night, Southampton defender Jan Bednarek was sent off during the 9-0 defeat to Man Utd.
The centre back attempted to pull out of the challenge, but Martial went to ground and was awarded a penalty.
Mike Dean checked the VAR during the match and sent Bednarek off. That put the Saints down to nine men as Alex Jankewitz had been sent off in the first two minutes.
An independent commission agreed with Southampton that Bednarek had been wrongfully dismissed.
He will now be available for their match against Newcastle on Saturday.
