With no direct competition thanks to this week’s big new releases “Turning Red” going to Disney+ and “The Adam Project” to Netflix, the box-office remained fairly unchanged.
In its second weekend, Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” held onto the domestic crown with a further $66 million domestically – down just 41% from its debut which is a better hold than most comic book films. It also pulled in as much again from overseas markets.
After ten days, the film has pulled in a very strong $238.5 million domestically and has crossed the $460 million mark globally. In fact, domestically it has already become the second-highest-grossing film of the past two years – behind only “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
In second was the Tom Holland-led game adaptation “Uncharted” with $9.2 million in its fourth week – bringing its total to $113 million domestic and just over $300 million worldwide. The numbers come as the film has just been banned in Vietnam due to its inclusion of a map depicting contested territorial claims over the South China Sea.
Third was the concert film “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage: Seoul” which snagged $7 million. The Channing Tatum-led “Dog” was fourth with $5.3 million, whilst Spidey closed things out in fifth with $4.07 million.
