Brief “Joker 2,” Wakanda Series Updates

Trade paper The Hollywood Reporter has posted a lengthy feature piece about several high profile attorneys, going into brief detail about their recent deals on behalf of their clients.

The piece reveals that filmmaker Todd Phillips has “struck a deal to co-write the next Joker instalment”. At last report, Phillips and Warner Bros. Pictures were mulling ideas for a sequel, but there had been no real progress. This suggests it’s further along than expected.

Another of the profiles also reveals that former “The Walking Dead” actress Danai Gurira has closed a deal to reprise her role as Okoye, general of the Dora Milaje which she first played in Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther”.

Specifically they indicate Gurira is set to return to the role not only in Ryan Coogler’s sequel film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” but also in a Wakanda spin-off series being set up for the Disney+ service. Coogler is developing the series as part of his five-year overall exclusive TV deal with the studio.

No potential release dates for any of these projects has been set bar “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” which hits cinemas in July next year.
