Christopher McDonald Joins Marvel’s “Invasion”

Acting veteran Christopher McDonald has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ “Secret Invasion” series for the Disney+ service.

Specifics on McDonald’s character are under wraps but it is said to be a newly created character which could cross over to the larger MCU and appear in other movies and series.

In the series, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn reprise their MCU characters Nick Fury and the Skrull Talos. The storyline of the original comic deals with a faction of shape-shifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

McDonald joins a star stuffed cast which includes Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim helms the series which begins filming in Europe later this year.

McDonald has played often hot headed supporting characters for decades with roles in everything from “Happy Gilmore” and “Requiem for a Dream” to “Thelma & Louise” and “The Iron Giant”. He was most recently seen in Robert Rodriguez’s “We Can Be Heroes” and currently stars in HBO Max’s “Hacks”.
