Elaine Jones’ (Paula Wilcox) presence in Coronation Street begins to concern Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew), and thus the abuser decides to take action.

Elaine was determined to help Yasmeen (Shelley King), and therefore paid her a visit in prison — revealing that she is also a victim of Geoff’s abuse.

Alya (Sair Khan) begged the cobbles newcomer to give evidence in court, and amid such a conversation, it came to light that Elaine is actually Tim’s (Joe Duttine) mum.

In upcoming scenes, she speaks to Sally (Sally Dynevor) — who pleads with her to not give up on Tim.

However, in spite of her efforts to stay away from Geoff, Elaine is later terrified when Geoff approaches and a sinister showdown seemingly ensues.

Speaking about the scenes in question, actress Paula Wilcox — who protrays Elaine — told Metro.co.uk: ‘She knows she wants to stay away from Geoff, but then inevitably he finds her because he’s been looking for her and that’s very, very scary.’

‘He wants her out of his life, absolutely. He doesn’t want her there, there is a little scene when he warns her off, and when he sees her there again, he’s going to make damn sure she doesn’t mess up the plan.

‘She knows everything about him, she can really blow the whistle on him. I think it’s just the way he speaks to her, everything comes flooding back, the fear, the dread, the horror from all her life comes back.

‘It really is like ‘get me out of here, just let me go away, please let me disappear!’

Of the course, the question is: just how far is Geoff willing to go in order to remove Elaine from the equation?

Her presence on the cobbles has caused him nothing but grief, and given that she has what it takes to expose him for the abuser that he is, it’s safe to assume he’ll do just about anything to get rid of her.

Coronation Street continues Wednesday 29 July at 7:30pm on ITV.
