Peter Crouch has apologised to his former club Liverpool for drawing them against Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round.
Liverpool beat a youthful Aston Villa side 4-1 to advance to the next round. Man United meanwhile were victorious against Championship side Watford in their third round tie.
The draw for the fourth round took place on Monday. Crouch was picking the balls out and he handed Jurgen Klopp’s side a tough tie against their arch-rivals Man United.

As cited by the Liverpool Echo, Crouch quickly said “sorry about that”, before he went into more detail once the draw had concluded:
“Yeah, I wasn’t planning on that to be honest. It’s a big, big tie. I played in one actually, managed to score the winner – I’ll drop that one in!”
A few have been left frustrated by the draw. This includes Crouch’s wife, Abbey Clancey. She took to Twitter to react to the mouth-watering cup tie:

The last time Liverpool and Man United met in the FA Cup was also in the fourth round in January 2012.
Park Ji-sung cancelled out Daniel Agger’s early goal before half time. Dirk Kuyt netted the winner for Kenny Dalglish’s side at Anfield in the 88th minute.
The draw for the fifth round also took place on Monday evening. The winner of the Liverpool-Man United tie will face Stockport County, West Ham or Doncaster Rovers next.
