“Doctor Who: Flux” Sets Halloween Premiere

BBC

The BBC has announced an October 31st premiere for “Doctor Who: Flux,” the thirteenth season of the modern run of “Doctor Who” which will tell a single story unfolding over six episodes and airing through to December 5th.

This marks the first single story season for the show since “The Trial of a Timelord” serial with The Sixth Doctor back in 1986. Mandip Gill and John Bishop serve as the companions this time out but specifics of the threat known as the ‘Flux’ are still under wraps.

This will mark the last full season for both star Jodie Whittaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall. The pair have also just completed shooting three feature-length specials with the final one to serve as Whittaker’s exit from the role. Those specials will air New Year’s Day, early 2022, and late 2022 respectively.

After that Russell T. Davies will return as showrunner which he served on during Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant’s tenures of the modern series. Whittaker’s successor for the role of The Fourteenth Doctor has yet to be announced.
