Emerald Fennell To Pen DC’s “Zatanna” Film

Oscar-nominated “Promising Young Woman” director Emerald Fennell has been set to pen the film adaptation of the DC Comics title “Zatanna” at Warner Bros. Pictures and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot.

A new installment in the DC Extended Universe, the project marks the character’s first appearance both in the DCEU and on the big screen. No one has yet been cast as the top-hatted stage illusionist who is also considered one of the most powerful sorcerers in the DC universe – inherited from her alchemist father.

The character has previously appeared once in live-action form, played by actress Serinda Swan in a guest-starring role in a latter season episode of The CW’s “Smallville”.

Fennell has also served as writer/showrunner on the second season of BBC America’s “Killing Eve”.
