Euphoria Is Now HBO’s Biggest Show After Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones is HBO’s most-watched TV series in recent times, but what’s second? The network has announced that Euphoria, which stars Zendaya, has become HBO’s second-most watched show since 2004, according to Variety.

Sunday’s Season 2 finale picked up 6.6 million viewers for its debut to set a new high. On average, each episode in Season 2 had 16.3 million viewers with all numbers combined for live and on-demand viewing. This makes Euphoria HBO’s most popular show since 2004, only trailing Game of Thrones.

Euphoria was created, written, and directed by Sam Levinson, the son of Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson (Rain Man, The Natural). Levinson also directed Zendaya in the Netflix movie Malcom & Marie, which starred John David Washington as well.

In other HBO news, the Game of Thrones series is returning, in a way, with a prequel series called House of the Dragon scheduled for release later this year. Filming recently wrapped.
