The Paramount+ streaming service has released a haunting new trailer for Evil Season 2, the supernatural drama series co-created by writing team and couple Robert King and Michelle King (The Good Fight). Renewed for a second season way back in October 2019, the show weathered pandemic delays and will finally be coming back on June 20, jumping to the streaming service from CBS, where Season 1 aired.
Available on the Paramount+ app and airing on Sunday nights, Evil is a “psychological mystery that examines the origins of evil along the dividing line between science and religion.” The series focuses on a skeptical female psychologist (Katja Herbers) who joins forces with a priest-in-training (Mike Colter) and a carpenter (Aasif Mandvi)–the trio investigates “the Church’s backlog of unexplained mysteries, including supposed miracles, demonic possessions, and hauntings.” Check out the trailer below.
In addition to Herbers, Colter, and Mandvi, Evil’s cast also includes Kurt Fuller (Psych), Brooklyn Shuck (Rise), Christine Lahti (The Blacklist), and Michael Emerson (Person of Interest). The show’s first season was widely considered a critical success with favorable reviews, widely praised for its smart writing and cerebral horror elements.
Paramount+ is an expanded service that recently replaced CBS All Access. Although functionally it’s similar to its predecessor, the new version of the app offers more content, live sports, and also movies. Beavis and Butt-Head will star in a new movie coming to the service, and the Cheers spinoff Frasier is also slated for a comeback there as well.
