Epic Games, the developer of the insanely popular video game “Fortnite,” is stretching out and is currently in development of the animated feature “Gilgamesh”.
Latin American animation studio Hook Up, Argentinian firms DuermeVela and FilmSharks are teaming with Epic on the film which will be based on the hero from ancient Mesopotamian mythology.
The story follows the exploits and adventures of the king-turned-deity Gilgamesh, his quest for immortality and his rivalry then friendship with ‘wild man’ Enkidu.
Epic’s Unreal Engine technology, used heavily in the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” will be used to craft the animation.
Argentinian filmmaker Tomas Lipgot (“The Adopters”) will helm the film which will have both English and Spanish versions.
