Hulu To Increase Its Prices Next Month

Hulu has announced they will raise the price of their ad-supported and ad-free subscription tiers by $1 beginning October 8th.

The price increases will impact both existing and new Hulu subscribers – pushing the prices to $6.99 a month with ads, and $12.99 a month without.

Live TV plans and Disney streaming bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu with ads and ESPN+ for $13.99 a month, will not change in price for now. The price change comes after the streamer received a boost in content from Disney+ Hotstar.

Hulu has a total of 42.8 million subscribers, 39.1 million subscribed via direct SVOD subscription and 3.7 million subscribed to its live TV and or via SVOD bundle.

As Hulu remains restricted only to U.S. users, it’s also responsible for most of the streaming revenue for Disney with average monthly revenue per paying subscriber at $13.50 for those direct, and $84.09 for those via live TV.

In comparison, Disney+ and ESPN+ both make just over $4 per paid subscriber – watered down by lower price points (especially in select international markets).
