“Jackass” Beats “Moonfall” At Box-Office

Paramount Pictures

After two weeks of essentially nothing, the domestic box-office sputtered to life this weekend with two new wide releases.

Paramount’s “Jackass Forever” is projected to win the weekend with a very solid $23.5 million. That’s on par with the first film though just under half that of the previous entry. Still, costing just $10 million to produce it’s effectively already in profit.

“Jackass” is being helped by good reviews, the same can’t be said for Roland Emmerich’s much more costly “Moonfall” though with the $140 million-budgeted film scoring poor reviews and opening to a mere $10 million. The film opens in over 50 countries worldwide this weekend so will likely rely on that overseas box-office.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is set to come in third with $9.6 million, followed by “Scream” in fourth with $4.7 million and “Sing 2” in fifth with $4.1 million. In limited release, “The Worst Person in the World” earned a stellar $33,760 per-screen average across four screens.
