Kevin Hart Signs Adam Sandler-Like Netflix Deal Worth Many Millions

Comedian and actor Kevin Hart has signed a mega-deal with Netflix, according to The Hollywood Reporter and other publications. The site said Hart is expected to announce an “enormous, Adam Sandler-type deal” with Netflix that will see the actor produce four movies for the streaming company.

Hart’s deal with Netflix will then transition to a “first-look” deal that will give the company a first right of refusal for any project Hart might bring to them.

Separately, Deadline reported that Hart’s deal with Netflix is in the eight-figure range, meaning Netflix is paying him at least $10 million. [Update: Deadline has updated its story to remove the eight-figure reference]

Netflix boss Scott Stuber said, “Netflix has enjoyed a long relationship with Kevin and we’ve been lucky enough to partner with him many times. He’s a hands-on producer and it’s been great to watch him build an incredible company with HartBeat. There are very few artists who can attract audiences of all ages and succeed in making comedies, dramas and family films. We’re excited to partner with Kevin, and his great team at Hartbeat, to entertain our audience for years to come.”

Hart is already in business with Netflix, as he is lined up to begin filming the movie True Story for Netflix soon, though this film is not part of the deal. Hart is also set to appear in the Borderlands movie with Cate Blanchett that will film in Budapest this year.

There is no word yet on the movies that Hart will make for Netflix, but given his background, you can expect they will be comedies.

Netflix’s deal with Sandler has proven to be incredibly success for the company, so much so that the company extended Sandler’s four-movie deal for a further four films.
