“Lake Changjin” Becomes China’s Top Film

China Film Co.

Dominating the local box-office for the past two months, “The Battle at Lake Changjin” has now become the highest-grossing film of all time in China.

Already the top-earning film in the world this year, the movie this past Wednesday reached $892 million U.S. dollars – surpassing previous Chinese box-office record-holder “Wolf Warrior II” from back in 2017.

Dante Lam, Chen Kaige and Tsui Hark co-directed the film which is set during the early part of the 1950-1953 Korean War. Despite the large gross, the film has earned very little outside its home country.

Still, it and another Chinese film titled “Hi, Mom” ($822 million) are at the top position at the global box-office for 2021, with Bond film series entry “No Time to Die” in third with $735 million.
