Lifetime Sets “Harry & Meghan” ‘Escape’ Film

In the wake of Oprah Winfrey’s blockbuster interview with the pair, Lifetime has greenlit the telemovie “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace,” what is being dubbed a ‘trilogy capper’ about the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The new film is a follow-up to 2018’s “Harry & Meghan” which chronicled the love story of UK Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle, and 2019’s “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal” which covered their first year of marriage.

This one promises to “reveal what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie.”

The work also promises to “reveal the private family feuds between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles, that lead to the ultimate break from the royal ties.”

Lifetime is now billing the three movies as a trilogy, a Harry & Meghan Creative Universe (HMCU) as one trade paper dubs it. Both director Menhaj Huda and writer Scarlett Lacey are set to return in the same capacities following their work on the earlier films.

The previous films had different actors in the roles and the same is expected again here with casting currently underway. Production is set to begin this spring ahead of an airdate eyed for this Fall.
