Liverpool revealed on September 29 that their big summer signing was exhibiting minor symptoms of the virus and the Spain midfielder would remain in self-isolation ‘for the required period of time’.

Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri also tested positive for coronavirus but Shaqiri has since returned a negative result while away with the Switzerland national team.
