Loki is set to find himself in an awkward position when his Marvel series launches on Disney Plus, with a new teaser showing what happens to Tom Hiddleston’s character after he is apprehended by the TVA (Time Variance Authority).
Loki, the third MCU series to be released this year after WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, follows the God of Mischief after the events of Avengers: Endgame, when the 2012 version of the character uses the Space Stone to escape imprisonment.
Nonetheless, he ends up landing in yet another form of incarceration when the TVA, an organisation that monitors the timeline, picks him up and demands that he helps fix the disruption he’s caused.
In a new teaser released by Marvel, Loki is shown being brought to the TVA in handcuffs, still wearing his signature emerald green garb.
However, he is very quickly rid of both his clothes and his dignity when a machine zaps his ensemble away, seemingly leaving him with nothing on but a mechanic collar around his neck.
The new sneak peek grants viewers a proper first look at Miss Minutes, the cartoon clock mascot of the TVA who appeared on a poster for the show.
‘Welcome to the Time Variance Authority. I’m Miss Minutes, and it’s my job to catch you up before you stand trial for your crimes,’ the cheerful cartoon clock says in a clip.
‘So settle in and we’ll get you in front of a judge in no time,’ she adds, as a perplexed Loki falls through a trapdoor and lands in a TVA jumpsuit.
After initially expressing his disbelief over the threats made by the TVA, Loki realises that the organisation is willing to take down anyone who gets in their way when he witnesses a fellow jumpsuit-wearer being vaporised by a guard.
Eventually he teams up with the TVA on their mission, although not everyone believes he is a trustworthy ally.
‘Trusting Loki is not a good idea,’ says TVA member Ravonna Lexus Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).
But Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson) appears more inclined to place his faith in the Asgardian, attempting to give him daggers before they’re swiftly confiscated.
If these teasers are anything to go by, Marvel fans are in for one hell of an adventure.
Loki is set to premiere on Wednesday June 9 on Disney Plus.
