Norwich are in advanced talks to sign Manchester United’s young full-back Brandon Williams on a season-long loan deal.

The newly promoted Canaries are looking to bolster their options in defence and Williams, who can play at both left-back and right-back, fits the mould of the player they are after, according to Sky Sports

Williams has been a long-term target of Southampton and Newcastle in the past, but United have been reluctant to let the 20-year-old leave on loan in previous windows.

Speaking back in January, United boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer revealed that Williams had been working hard and had hoped to give some first-team chances to the youngster.

‘He’s been working really hard and we don’t have any more players that we feel will be going. Brandon has been really good lately, working really hard in the last few months and he’s ready when the chance comes.’

But now that the club have Luke Shaw and Alex Telles at left-back and Aaron-Wan Bissaka and Diogo Dalot at right-back, it seems that they are willing to send Williams out to get some much-needed game time.

It is understood that a deal for Williams is unlikely to be completed this week as United want to make sure that no further injuries are picked up before santctioning the move.

But Norwich, who have also taken Chelsea’s Billy Gilmour on loan this summer, are frontrunners to complete the transfer.

Elsewhere, speculation surrounding Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford intensifies with reports suggesting that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are willing to offer the Frenchman a whopping £510,000 a week to join on a free transfer next summer when his contract at United comes to an end.

Pogba and the rest of his United teammates will face Southampton in the Premier League next Sunday as they bid to maintain their perfect start to the campaign following an impressive 5-1 victory against Leeds on Saturday.
