Paramount To Scale Back On Blockbusters?

Paramount’s Jim Gianopulous is set to exit as CEO of Paramount Pictures with Nickelodeon’s Brian Robbins stepping to replace him.

According to THR (via Slashfilm), Robbins has not dealt with A-list movie stars before and insiders for the trade believe: “Paramount will be scaling back on its theatrical tentpole productions to focus on titles that will service Paramount+.”

Paramount won’t be getting out of theatrical releases altogether, but will have less focus on big-budget films that can do big business at the global box office and more on remakes, branded content and lower budget works.

Paramount’s biggest name franchises include the likes of “Transformers,” “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible”. More entries in all those series are in the works.
