Rick Moranis Doing ‘Fine’ After Sucker Punch

Beloved veteran actor Rick Moranis received a closed fist punch to the face by a random passer-by on New York City’s Upper West Side, leaving the actor knocked to the ground. Police say the assailant remains at large.

A rep for the 67-year-old comedy star said in a statement the actor is “fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes.” Moranis was reportedly taking an early-morning walk Thursday near his home when he was struck on Central Park West near West 70th Street. Video of the incident is up at NYPD News while the clearest image of the suspect is up at ABC7 News.

Initial press reports said Moranis sought treatment at a local hospital before reporting the attack at a police station. The “Spaceballs” and “Ghostbusters” star has stayed out of the limelight for much of the past two decades to raise his kids.

His recent appearance in a commercial for Mint Mobile alongside Ryan Reynolds gained wide notice, and he is set to return to acting with the Disney+ series “Shrunk”. Reynolds posted a tweet in response to this news, saying: “Should have known not to subject Rick to the year 2020. Glad to hear he’s okay.”
