Ron Moore Sets Major Deal At Disney

“Battlestar Galactica” executive producer Ron Moore has closed a rich, multiple-year overall deal with Disney-owned 20th Television – moving from Sony Pictures Television after a decade.

Under the multiple-year agreement, Moore and his Tall Ship Productions company will create and develop new projects for across the Disney portfolio. Longtime collaborators Maril Davis and Ben McGinnis will go with him.

The first project under the deal is the Disney+ series “Swiss Family Robinson” which he and “Crazy Rich Asians” helmer Jon M. Chu are developing. Moore reportedly gave up several more lucrative offers, including one to remain at Sony, to do this Disney deal that allows him to work on Disney’s IP.

Moore, who also worked on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Carnivale” and remains involved with both Apple TV+ series “For All Mankind” and Starz’s “Outlander”.

“Mankind” was recently renewed for a third season, whilst production got underway on the sixth season of “Outlander” this week.
