Simon Cowell is ‘back up walking and moving around again’, faster than doctors predicted, after breaking his back in a horror crash.
Britain’s Got Talent boss, 60, was rushed straight to hospital recently, where he underwent a gruelling ‘five-hour operation’ following the smash.
And a source close to Simon has told Metro.co.uk that he is ‘already back at work’ from his hospital bed, and hoping to be home soon.
‘Simon has been up, walking and moving around again a lot faster than doctors had predicted, and he is back working, making calls and on his iPad,’ they said.
‘Although his friends are reminding him it’s important to take the time to heal before rushing back to work.
‘He’s hoping to be home in a few days time but everyone is keen he doesn’t rush and that he gives his bones time to heal properly.’
Which is totally fair enough.
The Mirror revealed he had swapped his plant-based diet for more meat during his recovery, with partner Lauren Silverman whipping up his ‘favourite Italian bean soup’ and ‘cottage pies with turkey’.
And our insider confirmed his friends are loading him up with sweet treats while he’s off his feet.
‘Friends have been sending him hampers of Cadbury’s chocolates, Twiglets, Curly Wurlys, Maltesers and Marmite,’ they explained, adding he’s also been drinking tea with almond milk.
Some absolute choice snacks in there…
Simon broke his back in three places after falling off his e-bike at his Malibu home, at the beginning of this month.
He later made light of the accident on Twitter, joking: ‘If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.
‘I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages.
‘And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone, Simon.’
Speaking about the accident to Metro.co.uk this week, Britain’s Got Talent co-star Alesha Dixon said the gang had their fingers crossed that he’ll be well enough to join them via a live link when the series picks back up this month.
‘I’ve spoken to Lauren, she’s been keeping me updated,’ she told us. ‘The last time I spoke to her, which was two days ago, she said he was in good spirits. So that was music to our ears.
‘Obviously, we’ve all been really concerned about him, and we’ve all got our fingers crossed that he’s going to be joining us via a live link for the show.
‘That’s what the original plan was because Britain’s Got Talent dates clashed with America’s Got Talent. And now due to the accident, we don’t know what his recovery time will be. we’re just waiting to find out. But that would be the best-case scenario if we can have him on a live link.
‘We love him and we need him there, and we will miss him terribly if he’s not. But, the last I heard he was doing well.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted Simon’s reps for a comment.
