Solskjaer gives injury update on Man United trio

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to have Mason Greenwood, Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams all available for Thursday night’s clash with Crystal Palace after they were forced off the pitch during Monday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Greenwood was the victim of a poor challenge from Saints midfielder Oriel Romeu that could have easily resulted in a red card for the Spaniard.

Shaw also left the pitch with an ankle injury before his left-back replacement Williams came off worst in a clash of heads with Kyle Walker-Peters.

“I’ll give Luke [Shaw] as much time as possible – him and Mason, their ankles are swollen and a bit blown up. I’ll give them as much recovery time as possible to give them a chance. Brandon [Williams] should be fine, he has a gash over the eye but if he can see out of it then…we’ve not trained obviously this morning yet but we’ll hopefully have two, maybe all three of them.”

Asked to elaborate further on Greenwood, who stayed on the pitch before eventually succumbing to the pain.

“In the heat of the moment he’ll play on and adrenaline gets you going, and then you get a little bit of reaction after. I said after the game that my ankles were a bit weak after many years of football.

“But obviously Mason carried on and I think it should have been looked upon by the referee definitely.”
