Stanley Tucci Reveals Past Cancer Struggle

As part of a new interview with Vera Magazine (via Deadline), beloved actor Stanley Tucci has spoken out about his cancer diagnosis three years ago and his subsequent treatments that were successful.

Tucci was found to have a tumor at the base of his tongue, a mass that ‘was too big to operate and could only be treated with ‘high-dose radiation and chemo’.

Tucci’s first wife, Kate Spath-Tucci, died of breast cancer at the age of 47 over a decade ago and he watched her go through those treatments for years.

Tucci’s own treatment at one point involved the use of a feeding tube for six months and he barely made it to the high school graduation of two of his five kids.

Tucci said that his cancer is unlikely to come back and adds: “[Cancer] makes you more afraid and less afraid at the same time. I feel much older than I did before I was sick. But you still want to get ahead and get things done.”

The new comes as this morning’s headlines have revealed that former Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding succumbed to breast cancer on Sunday morning at the age of just 39.
