Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: How Long Does It Take To Beat?

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is the latest in a long line of Switch re-releases of quality, if underappreciated, Wii U games. This one sweetens the package by adding an entirely new second game on top of the original, but how long can you count on the double-pack to last?

Similar to the original release, finishing Super Mario 3D World will take roughly 8-10 hours. This may be very slightly faster than the Wii U version, primarily because all of the characters and overworld stage selection has gotten a noticeable speed boost. That makes some stages more challenging, but on the whole it makes the experience faster. As always, Mario games are packed with more secrets to uncover including extra stages, and chasing down 100% completion with all the green stars across every world will take significantly longer.

Bowser’s Fury is a different beast altogether. This open-world game is kept entirely separate from 3D World, and you select it independently from the title screen. It’s also a much shorter game on the whole: We finished the main story after roughly three hours, and then took another 2-3 hours after that to collect every Cat Shine for 100% completion.

So as a combined package, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury will take roughly 11-13 hours to roll credits on each of the included games, approximately 13-15 hours if you want 100% completion in Bowser’s Fury, and upwards of 20 hours if you want 100% completion across both.

“Put together, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is a spectacular package,” Steve Watts wrote in GameSpot’s Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury review. “The two share thematic similarities, but more importantly, they work hand-in-hand to show the full extent of versatility in what a Mario game can be.”
