Anyone who really knows me recognizes that I’m the ultimate skin-care devotee, someone who never skimps on wearing sunscreen during the day. Whether it’s 100 degrees and humid or pouring rain, I make sure that my face is saturated with a healthy dollop of sun protection before leaving the house. I thought I’d discovered all my skin-care favorites—until I tried Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion’s updated reef-safe sunscreen formula.

I already count Supergoop!’s Unseen Sunscreen among my product ride-or-dies, but after emptying my last tube this summer, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone and test Supergoop! Play, which is suitable for both face and body. Typically I’m wary of two-in-one skin products (I don’t fully endorse the idea of body wash that also works for your face, for example). But I was willing to give this a shot because I love Supergoop!—and it didn’t disappoint.

I totally get why this is called Everyday Lotion, since its consistency is just as creamy and lightweight as some of my favorite moisturizers. Although it goes on white, the sunscreen has an invisible finish once rubbed in, unlike a lot of lotions that leave a chalky cast. It’s nongreasy with a pleasantly mild scent, and my skin drinks this stuff up with little effort. Supergoop! Play’s chameleon-like ability to work on both my face and body without triggering breakouts is truly a game changer, and I no longer have to bother switching between a bunch of sun-protection products on the regular.

Since Supergoop! Play offers broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection, plus has a water- and sweat-resistant formula, I don’t worry about it wearing off during outdoor workouts. I can happily wear it in the ocean and actually feel good about it, as it is now officially a reef-safe sunscreen, meaning it doesn’t contain chemical UV filters like oxybenzone and octinoxate, which are known to be harmful to coral reefs and other sea life.

Now that I’ve added this new gold star to my list of skin-care go-tos, I’m ready to graduate from the handheld 2.4-ounce size right to the jumbo, easy-to-pump 18-ounce version. This is an everyday lotion, after all.
